Hi there! 👋
I am a Científico Titular (Permanent Researcher) at the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
I work in theoretical quantum physics. As a quantum optician by background, my main interest is exploring quantum effects arising from engineered light-matter interactions (such as in cavity quantum-electrodynamics) and exploit them for the development of quantum hardware (e.g. new types of lasers, sources of quantum light, or quantum sensors). Here is a more specific list of research topics I am currently working on.
Research Topics
- Cavity-QED for novel sources of quantum light
- Multi-photon states
- Squeezed lasers
- Single-photons in the THz
- Open Quantum Systems
- Driven-dissipative phase transitions
- Steady-state entanglement via dissipation
- Sensing and metrology
- Spectroscopy with quantum light
- Machine-learning for tomography and parameter estimation
- Metrological protocols in quantum optics
- Quantum computing
- Bosonic codes
- Quantum technologies with solid-state platforms
- Quantum dots in microcavities
- Color centers in diamond and SiC
- Superconducting circuits
Short bio
I defended my PhD thesis in December 2016 at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, under the supervisions of Prof. Carlos Tejedor and Prof. Fabrice P. Laussy. In 2017, I moved to Japan to join the group of Prof. Franco Nori at RIKEN, funded by a JSPS Short-term Fellowship. There, I lived in Wako-shi, where I enjoyed practicing Kendo at a local dojo. In 2018 I left Japan to join the group of Prof. Dieter Jaksch at University of Oxford, supported by a Marie-Slodowska Curie Fellowship. After two wonderful years in Oxford, in 2020 I was awarded a La Caixa Junior Leader Fellowship, and just after the pandemic, I came back to my alma mater in Madrid (UAM) as an independent researcher. Finally, on Dec. 2023 I joined IFF-CSIC with a permanent position.
